A milestone in the sense of milestone planning is of particular importance in the course of an innovation project or in the life of a challenge. Similarly, a milestone in a project is also always an important goal or milestone. An essential part of a milestone is the sharp focus on deadlines and the associated communication.
A milestone can basically be understood as a time communicated to the outside world by which certain tasks must be completed.
