Method for strengthening mindfulness in a team.

In stressful situations, alertness is activated in the brain. The resulting processes were once good for the survival of our ancestors, but require special attention in our day and age, as permanent accessibility, sensory overload or continuous adaptability quickly put our bodies into a state of ‘sustained tension’. If, on the other hand, no regular ‘relaxation’ is guaranteed, a digital transformation can be the icing on the cake that quickly puts people in a state of excessive demand or pathological stress. According to the latest scientific findings, it is then no longer possible in such situations to make one’s own decisions about action, performance and social competence. Although the body often sends appropriate signals in the event of too much stress, these are often deliberately overheard and the body’s own self-regulation is enormously damaged as a result. With the digital transformation, it is therefore necessary to maintain a much stronger, inner gaze within ourselves or to reclaim the inner gaze when a healthy balance is exceeded.

We can learn to cope better with natural stress reactions. Resilience and self-control, for example, help us to respond adaptively to the factors of digitalization. Presence is also becoming increasingly important these days, as employees, managers and coaches can only really listen, participate in learning formats or accompany a team if their thoughts are where they are needed – present in the here and now. The Mindfulness Check-up is a helping checklist and guide to more mindfulness. Even with simple mindfulness exercises, for example, can

– improves the quality of life,

– the perceived stress is reduced,

– a focused view is possible,

– Empathy and social competence promoted as well as

– lifelong learning are supported.

In the long term, the competence is built up to be able to look at problems in a more solution-oriented way. This not only ensures innovation and a successful digital transformation, but also healthy people who can remain in balance despite ongoing challenges.

The check-up provides an initial introduction to the field of mindfulness. It represents an empty path, the content of which can be determined by each interested employee using various further methods. Servant leaders or executives can use this path to embed mindfulness in their teams in a sustainable way.
