Products or services are often viewed in a very detached way. This can lead to a lack of awareness of obvious difficulties or hurdles. This method is intended to make the product (or service) to be illuminated a good friend, giving it quite human characteristics. This allows for a more personal view of the idea and easier identification of strengths, but also weaknesses.

As in the story of Pinocchio, an object becomes a living being with character traits and relationships with other people. This different way of looking at things opens up new perspectives on the product.

The exercise also helps to take the role of the consumer more easily. This makes it clearer what is important in the product from the user’s point of view and where aspects can still be sharpened.
