With this method it is possible to look at the newly conceived idea or solution from nine different perspectives. This directs the view beyond the pure product idea to the opportunities and risks of an idea and these are successively evaluated.
A grid or table is created, which is divided into a total of three times three, i.e. nine fields.
The perspectives of the horizonal axis deal with the past, the present, and the future, while the vertical axis deals with the supersystem (superordinate system or point of view), the system itself, and the subsystem (subordinate system or point of view). The intersections of these fields are then examined in more detail in relation to the idea, solution, or challenge.
This allows for a more comprehensive examination of the idea, ideally bringing to light the innovation opportunities that actually exist.
