Forced-Relationship is an intuitive technique for idea generation that dates back to the British author Charles S. Whiting. Similar to the Force-Fit game, Forced-Relationship works with so-called stimulus words and stimulates the imagination through unusual combinations of terms.

Forced relationship focuses more specifically on the areas of product and service innovation.

The stimulus words are either problem-related or problem-remote products and processes/services. With the help of the forced relationship technique, new approaches to solutions can be found, especially for imprecise questions and problems.
