The Function Structure method aims to reconcile technical requirements of a product with the design and new design requirements. This is achieved by breaking down the challenge into sub-functions and then developing binding and natural acting functions for a defect-free product.
Various design concepts create a translation of technical requirements into design parameters. From this it becomes clear that these two e-influencing factors for the solutions of the method can never be seen independently of each other and are ideally applied in interaction with the Axiomatic Design method.
