The perspective diagram visualizes the group’s state of knowledge on an innovation topic and thus creates a good basis for the next steps in problem definition or idea generation.

It uses the four dimensions: Prior knowledge, open-ended questions, negative expectations, positive expectations.

The approach is similar to Jim Rough’s Dynamic Facilitation method. For the visualization, a large sheet of paper is used that can be easily seen by all participants, for example attached to a pin board.
