Have participants make impressions of objects in a bed of sand. The resulting images are interpreted and discussed together with the given challenge.

The sand tray technique is an exciting way to bring team creativity to a metaphorical level. The imprints of the material objects create mental images that stimulate creativity and lead the group to new ideas in the discussion.

You will need a tray of dishes and sand. Provide as many different items as possible – they should not be too large, so that several of them still fit on an ordinary tray.

Also, the items should be varied and like to be fun: Finger puppets, stones, feathers, pieces of wood, tin soldiers, miniature bride-and-groom, toy dinosaurs, rubber snakes, bathtub sharks, carnival guns and so on.
