Sequential Morphology

The Sequential Morphology method combines an evaluation procedure with the structure of the morphological box. This further development of the morphological box (actually a problem-solving tool) brings some additional advantages, in that through it (quoted from Helmut Schlicksupp)

“the determinations of the essential parameters can be made more safely and unambiguously; and

the difficulty of identifying the most appropriate alternatives with respect to the problem from among the plethora of solutions morphologically pointed out is reduced.”

For this, the Sequential Morphology requires a clear description of the intended problem-solving area, since this is the ideal way to integrate the evaluation criteria into the morphology.

At first, working with Sequential Morphology seems much more complex than using the classic Morphological Box. However, if one takes into account that the result of the many alternatives is in the best case the optimal solution alternative and that this is already achieved in the decision phase, the total effort is nevertheless manageable and feasible.

Accordingly, Sequential Morphology offers itself as a valuable tool for dealing with very complicated challenges.
