The Buildwork method takes a holistic view of the various aspects in a change process and makes them visible and controllable.
Based on the analogy of a city, five core areas are considered, which collectively indicate the changes needed. The own building represents the organization to be changed.
The various sub-areas of change are highlighted in the change process and prepared in a structured manner. This results in recommendations for action and a clear picture of the depth of the necessary adjustments in the respective subareas.
The two parts of speech, Build & Work, represent the processes of change: Building, in its various forms (new construction, reconstruction, conversion, renovation or demolition) and working in the sense of becoming active and working out oneself (the continuous further development of these and the discarding of old ways of working and unlearning).
In the context of one’s own building, which can be actively taken care of, is the built environment, which is classically known to each of us, but cannot always be influenced. Through the association to building, the following five areas are considered in free order and are worked on and elaborated in more detail as needed.
1. environment and general conditions
2. existence and status quo of the own company
3. strategy and planning
4. conversion and change
5. the I as an individual in the center
Here, the areas consist of four to five components each in order to be able to specifically designate the type of change.
