The Momentum-Martix has its analogy from physics and helps in the project to sensitize the participants for the implementation quality.

The idea of momentum wants to show with which forces the progress movement can be confronted in the innovation project. This matrix is to be used like a diagnostic tool. This allows you to prevent the risk of ideas not being implemented at an early stage if the momentum is not maintained.

According to Michailidis, eight different momentum types are distinguished: Optimal Momentum, Chaos, Slow Growth, Boot Strapping, Stagnation, Busy Work, Good Intentions, No Momentum.

The respective momentum type influences three variables that affect the overall momentum of an initiative or project.

Variable 1: The resources put into implementation.
Variable 2: The speed at which work is performed.
Variable 3: The direction in which the initiative runs.
