An important competence for the digital transformation is life situation learning. This form of training lays the foundation for other important competencies and opportunities, including adaptability, agility, innovation, soft skills, and self-organization. One macro method for lifelong learning is peer-to-peer learning. Peer-to-peer learning enables effective employee development, linking colleagues in a flexible and self-directed format.
With Troika consulting, we describe a micro-method that employees can make use of at any time in an uncomplicated manner. In the method, employees receive brief, quick advice from other colleagues about a question, challenge, or specific thought. The method comes fromLiberating Structures (see this book) and was developed by Henri Lipmanowicz and Keith McCandless.
In a group of three persons, three consultation rounds of ten minutes each are conducted. Each person is the client once, while the other two counsel. During the counseling sessions, individuals gain insight and perspective on their own issues, thereby enhancing their ownReflective Competence. Through the exchange with colleagues, the cohesion, the trust among each other and the expertise of the entire group grows. In addition, for the person being counseled (the client), a fresh way of looking at things emerges, which can lead to new approaches to solutions and inspirations already during the counseling session.
